Hectic, Hot and Dry

It is a really good thing that it is the time of year when the yard doesn’t need much TLC — just some weeding, deadheading and making sure things are getting enough water. Even the lawn doesn’t need much attention since it has basically gone dormant and only needs a weed-wack to keep it looking tolerable.

As anticipated, new job is running me ragged. Tons of people are on vacation every week (Micah apparently didn’t say no to anyone), and we are down a person since Micah is basically in sports now. Plus I am having meetings with staff and other department heads, recruiting to fill our open spot and working on my master plan — all of the “jelly” for the website, etc. I’m working about 60 hours a week and stressed to the gills. I feel like when I’m not at work, I’m either wandering around the yard thinking about work or at my computer making lists for future conversations/projects.

One of my few de-stressors is weeding — which is good since the clover seems to grow 5 times faster than anything else and I hate clover. I find it very therapeutic on my rare days off to get out there and rip things out. It always looks so much better when I am done and I feel calmer.
